Youth Service Team

Youth Service Team provides quality service learning opportunities for youth at-risk in Marin county. The program is currently offered to youth groups in series of four consecutive Saturdays beginning approximately every six weeks.

Up to 15 youth participate in a range of service activities focused on the real social issues in Marin County, such as hunger, homelessness, environmental sustainability and care for vulnerable people such as the elderly or developmentally disabled. Each day begins with education and team-building, followed by volunteer service at a local nonprofit organization such as; Homeward Bound, Marin Parks, San Francisco/Marin Food Bank and San Francisco Glide Memorial.

In addition to learning about the goals of the program, the participating youth have time for discussion and reflection under the guidance of two credentialed counselors.

This restorative justice program is in partnership with Open the World and made possible through a grant from the San Francisco Foundation, funding by the County of Marin, and individual donations.

Opening the World

FPCSR sponsors many activities hosted by Opening the World, a travel and community service program for at risk youth in Marin County.

Youth on the Move

In partnership with the Marin YMCA and the Marin Food Bank, we provide community service opportunities and other inventions for under-served Marin youth. Our primary goal is to help them access the many benefits of altruism including increased self-assurance, empathy, mental and physical health, social and leadership skills. To do this, we offer quality community service opportunities with education and reflection components, as well as other empowering services.

Our intention is to make a small contribution in Marin County toward closing the achievement gap for some young people, promote mutual understanding between diverse youth, generations and faith communities and to perhaps create a self-sustainable model for other faith communities that can be replicated

Youth Enrichment Programs

After School Enrichment at Short School Elementary

In Spring 2015, Youth on the Move started offering an after-school enrichment program with a public K-4 elementary school in San Rafael, CA. Working with small student groups our volunteers offer a series of art, music, science, cooking, and technology classes.

We are proud to be working with our valued partners to help make a difference in our community.
