Pastoral Staff

Rev. Samuel G. Alexander
Pastor's BLOG

Rev. Alexander grew up in a Presbyterian minister’s home in New Jersey and comes to pastoral ministry as a third career. He was a watchmaker — first self-employed in Boston and then for Tiffany & Co. in New York. Following the rise of the quartz watch he became a securities engraver, hand-engraving plates for stock certificates, and foreign currency. He is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College.

Sam graduated from Union Theological Seminary in Virginia in 1994 and was first ordained to a call at Adelphi Presbyterian Church in Adelphi, Maryland. He served there until 2000.

Sam attended Princeton Theological Seminary in 2001. At the end his time there he married Barbara and they moved with his son Matthew to San Anselmo. Since coming to California, Sam has served Old First Presbyterian Church, San Francisco as Pastor, has taught homiletics at SFTS, and most recently served as Interim Associate Pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Burlingame. His wife Barbara graduated from SFTS and is currently on staff at the Lloyd Center.
