Partners in Mission

As one of the four pillars of FPCSR, mission activities at the local, national and international level are a major commitment of the church.

The church contributes annually to General Presbyterian mission giving and also contributes funds from the church budget to several local organizations involved in providing food, emergency housing, education, interfaith, and other social support services.

In addition, the Mission Committee provides opportunities for church members to contribute funds and time throughout the year. Activites include preparing monthly meals for a local emergency housing center, participating in the Marin Hunger Walk (nationally known as the Crop Walk organized by Church World Service), contributing Thanksgiving food for local needy families through the Ritter Center, and participating in various Christmas gift programs offered by national and local organizations.

The committee is also exploring mission opportunities for families and youth through activities such as harvest gleaning and youth trips to Mexico to build schools. For the last three years, the church has sent a team of workers to participate in the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance efforts to help re-build the gulf region.

FPCSR also donates space or provides greatly reduced rents throughout the year to a number of non-profits in need of meeting space.
