Deacons
A Deacon’s role is to minister “to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith.”
Deacons participate in the life of the church in many ways. Examples are assisting in preparing and giving communion, maintaining contact with those who are unable to attend worship service, giving flowers to members who have lost a loved one at Easter and Christmas, organizing and assisting with memorial services, and finally by organizing or financing different types of opportunities for spiritual growth for members.
At FPCSR, our Deacons have recently introduced a no-charge service for members of the congregation who could use some assistance with light home maintenance and repairs. All members need to do is make a list and someone from Deacons will attend to the list as an oppotunity to give back to our community. No job is too small. If it’s too big, the Deacons will tell you. Please contact the church office for more information.
