So, what are we about?

FPCSR is all about growth. All life is characterized by growth. The more we grow, the more vibrant our lives, the closer we are to fulfillment.

Yet growth isn’t always easy; it requires intention and effort. Whatever else you may or may not think about Jesus, it’s clear that he taught people to
embrace the creative power of God in order to be formed into the whole people God created them to be. At FPCSR, we accept that, and so we believe that growth requires effort supported by the creative power of God, a power that works to bring us from where we are now to a place of greater development.

So we are committed to working at growth.  But there is no step-by-step plan that works for everyone; we’re all on different paths, all in different stages of growth, all developing in different areas of life.  So there’s really no point in telling anyone how they must act, or what they must believe.

Instead, each one of us is encouraged to ask, "What is the next step in my growth?" And in asking that question, we focus on  four areas, or quadrants of development:
Picture
We seek to develop an intelligible faith through education for children and adults, and by encouraging open discussion.  We
believe there is more value in asking questions than in claiming
we’ve got hold of the truth.

We seek to walk forward on a spiritual path by worshiping together on Sundays, and engaging in spiritual formation. It is in receiving the creative love of God that we are empowered to share that love with others.

We offer opportunities for service through our mission trips where we help people rebuild after natural disasters, with our Youth on the Move program for vulnerable teens, on behalf of our homeless and hungry neighbors, in our long history of working to promote equality for all, without regard to race, income or sexual orientation.

We do this in a Community that supports us and holds us accountable for our growth. From our many gatherings and groups which form lasting bonds of friendship, to caring for one another in difficult times, to conversations where a diversity of ideas and reflections are welcomed and explored.

At FPCSR, we want to support people as they take the next step in their walk of faith - whatever that step may be.

There is a broad spectrum of approaches to faith issues - some people just want to come and listen from time to time while others want to actively engage - so we allow people a lot of room to move.

Come, take your next step with us.
